This partnership underscored our commitment ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities, besides enhancing knowledge sharing and the dissemination of sustainable technologies.

Memorandum of Understanding Signing Nextgreen Global Berhad and Sawit Palm Oil Industrial Cluster Sdn Bhd

 

Nextgreen Global Berhad proudly announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Sawit Palm Oil Industrial Cluster Sdn Bhd (SPOIC), a subsidiary of Sawit Kinabalu Group (SKG), to establish the Green Technology Park (GTP) in Sandakan, Sabah, Malaysia. The project, to be developed on a 400-acre land owned by SPOIC, will feature a Collection and Processing Centre (CPC), Pulp Mill, Raw Water Treatment Plant, and Biomass Steam & Power Generation Plant. The GTP in Sandakan will drive SKG towards sustainable growth and support Sabah’s state government in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

Nextgreen Global Berhad Received Two Gold Awards at 35th International Invention, Innovation, Technology Competition and Exhibition 2024 (ITEX 2024)


Nextgreen Global Berhad was honoured with the ITEX 2024 Gold Medal for two groundbreaking inventions at the 35th International Invention, Innovation, Technology Competition & Exhibition (ITEX 2024) held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. Memorandum of Understanding Signing between Nextgreen IOI Pulp Sdn Bhd and Xiamen C&D Paper & Pulp Group Co., Ltd.


Nextgreen IOI Pulp Sdn Bhd (NIP), a subsidiary of Nextgreen Global Berhad, announced a groundbreaking Memorandum of Understanding with Xiamen C&D Paper & Pulp Group Co., Ltd. (Xiamen C&D), a subsidiary of the Fortune 500 company Xiamen C&D Corp. Ltd., to establish a green and sustainable paper pulp production facility. This joint venture will form a new company, with NIP holding 75% and Xiamen C&D 25%, aimed at creating a paper pulp production facility on 43 acres within Green Technology Park (GTP) in Pekan, Pahang, part of the East Coast Economic Region (ECER) Master Plan. The facility will initially produce 100,000 metric tonnes annually of paper pulp from oil palm empty fruit bunches (EFB) using patented PRC-RBMP technology. NIP will lead feasibility studies, project preparation, procurement, business development, and stakeholder engagement, while Xiamen C&D will contribute business development expertise, assist in securing external financing, and manage the off-take of the facility’s output.

Shareholders Agreement Signing between Nextgreen Global Berhad and IOI Paper Pulp Sdn Bhd


Nextgreen Global Berhad proudly announced a partnership with IOI Corporation Berhad’s subsidiary, IOI Paper Pulp Sdn Bhd, to establish Malaysia’s first large-scale zero-waste paper pulp plant at the Green Technology Park (GTP) in Pekan, Pahang. Through a Shareholders’ Agreement, they formed Nextgreen IOI Pulp Sdn Bhd (NIP), with NGGB holding 55% and IOI 45%. NIP was set to manage a paper pulp production facility, initially producing 100,000 metric tonnes annually of bleached pulp from oil palm empty fruit bunches (EFB) using patented PRC-RBMP technology. Both companies planned to invest RM600 million, combining their expertise to transform under-utilized biomass from oil palm industries into sustainable products such as woodfree paper, tissue paper, premium packaging paper, and pulp-moulded packaging.

Nextgreen Global Berhad’s innovative business model of the Oil Palm Biomass Collection and Processing Centre (CPC) has been highlighted as a pioneering example for Setting Up the Biomass Hub in Malaysia, in Chapter 7 of the National Biomass Action Plan 2030. The CPC business model is the first of its kind, not only in Malaysia but globally, especially in the context of oil palm biomass commercialization. Nextgreen aims to establish 20 CPCs throughout Malaysia, with the primary goal of aggregating oil palm biomass, particularly empty fruit bunches (EFB). These CPCs will serve as one-stop centres for collecting palm oil waste, with the processed EFBs being converted into pulp and paper products.

Nextgreen’s exceptional achievements in the oil palm biomass industry, particularly in converting the biomass into commoditised high value products were acknowledged. Moving forward, Nextgreen’s commitment to pioneering biomass innovative solutions remains steadfast, with a focus on the flagship industrial park, the Green Technology Park in Pekan, Pahang.

Nextgreen Crowning Package Pulp Molding Sdn Bhd (NGCP) commenced trial production of the food grade empty fruit bunch pulp moulding


Nextgreen’s associate company, Nextgreen Crowning Package Pulp Molding Sdn. Bhd. (NGCP) has completed the construction of its factory for the manufacturing of pulp moulding from empty fruit bunch. With this, NGCP commenced trial production of the food grade empty fruit bunch pulp moulding today, whereby the manufacturing process is carried out in a clean room. NGCP is a joint venture company incorporated in July 2020 between NGGB and Crown Package Co. Ltd. (Crown) from Japan with the purpose of manufacturing and selling pulp moulding made from empty fruit bunch, and selling packaging materials to Japan.

Ground-breaking ceremony of Oil Palm Biomass Collection and Processing Centre at Gua Musang, Kelantan

 

Nextgreen Global Berhad has become one of the key investors in PLANMalaysia@Kelantan initiative, contributing to the realisation of the Special Area Plan Development Project (RKK) in Bandar Dato’ Bentara Gua Musang, Kelantan.

 

The Groundbreaking Ceremony of the RKK, Bandar Dato’ Bentara Gua Musang was completed by YAB Dato’ Bentara Kanan Ustaz Dato’ Haji Ahmad bin Yakob, Chief Minister of Kelantan. In conjunction with the event, a shareholding agreement exchange ceremony for the Oil Palm Biomass Collection and Processing Centre (CPC) was witnessed by YB Dato’ Haji Mohd Amar Bin Abdullah, the Deputy Chief Minister of Kelantan, YB Dato’ Kaya Setia Dato’ Haji Nazran Bin Muhammad, the Kelantan state secretary, and YAB Tuan Haji Abdul Rashid Bin Mohd Yusoff, CEO of Menteri Besar Kelantan Corporation.

 

We are proud to work with PMBK to promote sustainable development including the development of the industries sector within the RKK, with a particular focus on Mahalla 3. Our development plans include the establishment of the CPC, Pulp Mill, Animal Feed, and Organic Fertilizer plant. These developments in the industrial area of Bandar Dato’ Bentara will help contribute to Kelantan’s environmental and socioeconomic sustainability in the long term and Nextgreen’s corporate commitment towards environmental responsibility.

Shareholders Agreement Between Nextgreen Biomass with GTMA, KOOP SAHABAT, and KOSETIA

 

Nextgreen’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Nextgreen Biomass Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the company, has entered into a Shareholders’ Agreement with Greentech Malaysia Alliances Sdn Bhd (GTMA), Koperasi Sahabat Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (KOOP SAHABAT) Berhad, and Koperasi Perkhidmatan Setia Berhad (KOSETIA). The purpose of this agreement is to establish a joint venture in a special purpose vehicle (SPV) company called GTC Biomass Berhad. The joint venture aims to construct, develop, and commission 20 Oil Palm Waste Collection and Processing Centres throughout Malaysia.

Nextgreen Global Berhad received Gold Award and Outstanding Innovation Award 2023 by Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE 2023)

 

Nextgreen Global Berhad successfully participated in the local technology innovation competition at the Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE 2023). Competing in two categories, we proudly secured 3 Gold medals and 1 Outstanding Innovation Award. In the Manufacturing Process and Advanced Materials category, we won the Gold and Outstanding Innovation awards for our Sustainable Food Packaging made from oil palm empty fruit bunches’ cellulosic fibre. This innovative packaging solution was developed using a hybrid chemical-mechanical-thermal process.

 

Additionally, our patented technology, the Preconditioning Refiner Chemical-Recycle Bleached Mechanised Pulp (PRC-RBMP), earned us the second Gold award in the oil palm fibre-pulp production category.

 

Furthermore, we were honored with the third Gold award for establishing the Green Technology Park. This recognition highlights our intensive research efforts in environmental protection, energy conservation, water management, wastewater treatment, sanitation, and green technology. These achievements inspire Nextgreen to continue advancing our research to remain competitive and aligned with the forefront of sustainability and industrial advancements.

Nextgreen Global Berhad was honoured to receive an award under SDG Ambition Benchmark No. 6 for 100% sustainable material inputs that are renewable, recyclable or reusable during UNGCMYB Sustainability Performance Awards Ceremony 2022. Nextgreen is deeply committed to uphold the SDG Ambition Benchmark of ensuring material selection and product design implementation are 100% sustainable, which fulfils the highest possible measures of environmental and social standards guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) framework.

Ground-breaking ceremony of Phase 1B at Green Technology Park

 

Nextgreen Global Berhad celebrated the groundbreaking of Phase 1B at the Green Technology Park (GTP) in Pekan, Pahang. The event was graced by Chief Minister of Pahang, YAB Dato’ Sri Haji Wan Rosdy bin Wan Ismail. Phase 1B involves constructing three buildings for tissue paper, animal feed, and fertilizers. This highlights NGGB’s commitment to green technology and the GTP development plan. During the ceremony, NGGB signed a significant MOU with the National Farmers Organisation (NAFAS). This collaboration aligns agriculture with the national green technology agenda and promotes a competitive national food supply. The GTP’s ‘zero waste’ concept supports the circular economy, converting factory waste into valuable products like organic fertilizers and animal feed. This waste-to-value initiative strengthens the country’s corporate ecosystem amidst global economic challenges.

Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between Nextgreen Pulp & Paper and Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM)

 

Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) Exchange Ceremony between NGPP and UiTM by R&D department on 21st March 2022 at UiTM Shah Alam. Collaborative initiatives between industries and universities would foster a holistic ecosystem in resolving community issues as highlighted in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In this light, NGPP-UiTM collaboration is aimed to promote green technology for pulp and paper making from Empty Fruit Bunch (EFB) and kenaf. It is also to provide the key findings on green technology viability in pulp and paper production for renewable sources like EFB and kenaf, besides to increase the production efficiency of EFB/kenaf paper that meets ISO 187:1990 certification standards for pulp and paper manufacturing.

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Nextgreen Global Berhad and Kelantan State Government

 

Nextgreen Global Berhad had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Kelantan state government to collaborate on sustainable projects in the state. The projects’ value, estimated to be worth RM2.23 billion, was subjected to technical assessments, financial evaluations, and obtain certificates from the state’s One-Stop Investment Committee or an agreed-upon committee. Nextgreen will invest in management costs and operations for various developments, including a palm oil collection and processing center, forest plantation, pulp mill, animal feed mill, and fertilizer plant. The MoU establishes a joint venture with a Kelantan state-linked company or other parties designated by the state government. The MoU is valid for one year and subject to review and modifications as mutually agreed.

Nextgreen Global Berhad has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC), Koperasi Sahabat Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia Berhad (KOOP Sahabat), and Koperasi Perkhidmatan Setia Berhad (KOSETIA) to establish 20 collection centers for oil palm waste. This strategic alliance aims to create a more sustainable and efficient system for collecting and disposing of oil palm waste.

 

The collection centers will serve as one-stop centers for gathering oil palm biomass, which will then be processed into materials for the production of paper, food packaging, animal feed, and fertilizers at Green Technology Park, Pahang. The involvement of MGTC and the Ministry of Environment and Water (KASA) is seen as a catalyst for the project’s success.

 

As part of the collaboration, the MyAngasaku application has been developed to enable ANGKASA members to purchase school supplies online using credit provided by Koperasi Perkhidmatan Setia Berhad. This initiative, supported by Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (Medac), Tan Sri Noh Omar, aims to yield positive results for all operations in Malaysia.

UNGC Sustainability Initiative pledge by Nextgreen Global Berhad

Nextgreen Global Berhad pledged its support to the principled-based framework – United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative. Doing so amplifies our support for the UNGC’s Ten Principles and to act in support of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We are working to align the UNGC’s – ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment, and anticorruption – and SDGs integration into our business strategy, culture, and daily operations.

 

Memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Pulp & Paper and Kami Anak Felda Malaysia (KAF)

 

Nextgreen Pulp & Paper Sdn Bhd (NGPP) has signed a strategic collaboration agreement with Pertubuhan Kami Anak Felda Malaysia (KAF) to supply main raw material for the manufacture of paper and pulp. The collaboration enabled NGPP to appoint KAF as the agent for purchasing and selling empty fresh fruit bunches (FFB), as well as palm fronds from land schemes to a paper and pulp mill.

 

2020

Launching of Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption (ABAC) Policy and Handbook

Nextgreen adopts a zero-tolerance policy against all forms of bribery and corruption in our business, including any third-party or business associate dealings. In view of the introduction of Section 17A of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 (Amendment Act 2018), the Group put in place an Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption (ABAC) Policy and Handbook in April 2020, ahead of the effect date of the Amendment Act 2018 in June 2020. Our participation in the UNGC clarifies our corporate stance in the area of anti-corruption, in that business should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.

Joint Venture Agreement was signed between Nextgreen Global Berhad and Crown Package Co., Ltd. to form a joint venture company; Nextgreen Crowning Package Pulp Molding Sdn. Bhd. with the purpose of manufacturing and selling pulp moulding made from empty fruit bunch, and sell packaging materials to Japan.

2019

Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between Nextgreen Pulp & Paper and UPM

 

A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) has been signed by Nextgreen Pulp & Paper (NGPP) and Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), to allow for a technology licensing by NGPP from UPM through a grant of RM 3.3 million received from the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOSTI). The technology involved is related to the production of nanocellulose from oil palm empty fruit bunch for sustainable food packaging, which has been developed by a group of UPM researchers led by Assoc. Prof. Dr Hidayah Ariffin. The licensing agreement with the duration of 30 months started in August 2019 involving a licensing fee with the amount of RM 550,000 to be paid by NGPP to UPM.
